Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Larnaca Airport Flying to: Manchester Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Lee Comments: I have to say this was probably the most uncomfortable flight I have ever been on, and I have been on a few. I have never flown with Flyjet before and hopefully will not have to again.
The flight was 2 hours late, so not a huge problem.
The seats where uncomfortable to the point of painful. There was no legroom to speak of and for 4 hours and 40 minutes it became unbearable.
There was an announcement that the toilet at the front was out of order half way through the flight. The toilet is situated where the hostesses base themselves. When I heard from the guy next to me that the toilet was out of order for half the flight on the way out, I thought it was a little suspicious and that the hostesses probably needed some quality time together without the disruption of any passengers.
An hour out of Manchester there was another announcement that in line with UK customs and excise they where not allowed to serve any more drinks or refreshments from the bar. In my thirty years of traveling across the world, I can honestly say that I have never heard this before. Is it another case that the cabin crew can simply not be bothered.
The crew where polite enough. The plane was old tired and dated. The entertainment system was broke, on a 4 3/4 hour flight !!!!
An unpleasant pleasant journey, with an airline that is best avoided.
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Malaga Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Ian Comments: After booking at the last minute we were not prepared for the delay we occurred. We were due to depart Newcastle at 6am, so we arrived for check in at 3am only to be told our flight was delayed 19 hours. After costing us 30 pound in a taxi to get there, we had to pay another 30 pounds to go home, after being told to come back for check in at 9pm for departure at 12.15am. We checked in on time only to be told it was delayed till 2.15am. Went through to departures and waited. Then at 12, o'clock it was announced that we would be delayed again till 4.30am. by now we were really p***** off, we had a four year old child with us and she was so tired, so we got our bags back and went home , which cost us another 30 pound.
On the Sunday we booked a flight with EasyJet for the Monday morning which cost us £380. We left on time on the Monday and finally arrived at our hotel. We still had our flight tickets for coming back with Flyjet so we went to check in on the Saturday morning again only to be told we were delayed again by 10 hours. It took 2 and half hours to check us in.
At the end of the day I didn't get to fly with Flyjet personally but I wouldn't.

Due to a problem with the plane we had to sit on the plane on the ground for 2 hours before finally departing to Larnaca at 12 midday. It was so uncomfortable standing up was a joy, the cabin crew were slightly ignorant as we had our meal thrown at us by the stewardess. The Drinks trolley only came round once which was a disappointment and on the ground in Manchester, no drinks were allowed to be served - very bad for PR! The seats were uncomfortable for the whole 4 and 1/2 hour flight to Larnaca. Landing was a joy and I couldn't wait to get off the tired and incredibly old 757. The best part of the flight was when I walked off the plane.

After a 10 hour delay at Newcastle Airport on the way out we were then met with a further 8 hour delay coming home.
When we checked in at Newcastle airport they knew we had no chance of going anywhere but they till let us proceed the Gate... What is all that about why can't these airlines be truthful. When the announcement was made that we would not be taking off until 6.30pm at least and vouchers would be issued, the service air staff needed police protection..
The return journey was exactly the same, vouchers given and no communication only a English girl would looked like she was in charge of checkin at Lanzarote saying "sorry cant help you not my airline" pass the buck came to mind..
The aircraft, Uncomfortable.. Seats broken.. Trays that won't stay up.. Water dripping from ceiling. I think you may get the picture.
I know this airline is not flying after October 4th THANK GOD is all I can say... Never ever again..
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Malaga Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Julie McCubbin Comments: As I am a travel agent, I booked four family members and one infant on a Flyjet flight to Malaga. They were due to fly on the 18th of August at 06:00HRS, As I write this it is the 19th of August At 01:20AM and the delay is currently 19HRS and counting. Due to the advice of the check in desk at Newcastle Airport, my family have booked another flight into Malaga and have now arrived safely however will we have the same problem on their return from Malaga airport ? They have already lost 1 days holiday and £450 to rebook another flight.
Questions to be asked are,
- Should Newcastle airport be allowing shabby irresponsible airlines to be operating from their airport ?
- Why was no hotel offered to them whilst their departure was finalized ?
- How can anybody in an airport be expected to eat for 19HRS and counting with a provided £6 pound food voucher ?
- I am truly embarrassed and disappointed to have caused my family, this amount of trauma and distress by booking them flights with an incompetent company ?
- And finally, I do hope my family does have a good holiday however I am under no illusion that next Saturday we will probably have the same problem but this time from Malaga Airport, Please take my advice, it is wiser to book through a larger, well known airline rather than rely on low cost airlines.

Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Gail Comments: I recently traveled to Lanarca with this airline along with 8 other people. We all booked through Thomas Cook. I'd read all the reviews so a couple of us booked the extra leg room seats.
We boarded on time at Manchester so were relieved things were going well then as we were actually on the run way the brakes came on and we were told the equipment that tells you were other planes are in the sky and that tells other planes were you are had broke so we had to go back and wait for an engineer.
One of our friends is scared of flying so you can imagine the effect this had. They also had to refuel the plane now which seemed strange. Anyway we sat on the plane for 2 hours with no drinks and then once fixed had to be towed to the runway?
The plane was old and shabby and unless you book and pay for extra leg room then prepare to be uncomfortable. The food was the worst plane food I've ever had and as already mentioned you get charged £1.80 for a drink with your meal. The staff were nice.
On our return flight we were told on the coach on the way to the airport that there was an hour delay. We then spent 3 hours in Larnaca airport which had no aircon on and no where to sit and there was no information about the delay on the screens and as the flights went ours just disappeared off the screen.
We were going to buy some duty free at the airport but had waited, knowing we probably had a long delay, and then an announcement came asking us to board immediately so no duty free. Once on the plane we were told there was a slot for us at 18.56 and this was at 18.48, which meant we had 8 mins. We were told that if we missed this slot we would have to wait 191 mins for the next slot and knew we would be stuck on the plane again.
The air hostesses did the emergency demo at high speed as the plane headed for the runway and then dashed for their seats. Thankfully we took off and everyone cheered. I spoke to the hostess about whether the company was buying new planes in Oct and she told me the company was closing and they have been told that they'll have no jobs. So it looks like you won't have to avoid this airway for long.

An hour later the broken plane took off with no one on it after being told it was on the way 2 hours later it was still at Manchester. By this time the man at the desk was being threatened, a policeman came and tried to call Manchester to find out what was going on. Then all the smokers had to be let out for a tab breaching all security rules in the end we took off at 8.30 on a Portuguese plane only 8.5 hours late. We were on a bigger plane so there were more seats. Will be avoiding Flyjet at all costs in future.
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Paphos International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Joyce Wilson Comments: Going to Paphos was a bit of a problem, we pre-booked leg room seats but due to another plane being used as the Flyjet one was on the ground with engine problems and the replacement plane was a Spanish one which I had never heard of, the desk people sold the seats again! I queried the locality of them when were issued with boarding passes and I was told by a foreign young lady there was no problem...but there was, not wanting to stand and argue when we got in the cabin, we and another two couples asked for the Service-air manager to come on board, he did and was pretty useless, writing our names on scraps of paper and assuring us he would let Flyjet know, he didn't as I have now learnt.
On our return last Wednesday it was Flyjet, we were allocated ex. leg room seats, the crew were very helpful, extremely polite, the plane was clean and comfortable and on time.
When I telephoned Flyjet on Thursday morning about a refund for our outgoing flight, the lady was very helpful and apologised, she said the seats had been allocated 24 hrs earlier, not only has she refunded my money but she give us the full amount back we paid because of our inconvenience, I can't fault their customer service at all, can't recommend them anyway, they have lost their franchise from October out of Newcastle.
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Liz Comments: Having read some very dubious reviews for Flyjet I have to say I was expecting the worst only to be pleasantly surprised.
OK the planes interior is a little tired but what do you expect from a plane that's nearly 18 years old and flies everyday, you'd be tired too!!!!! I have to say as a regular flyer to Cyprus the flight was no worse than flying with First Choice, Thomas Cook, XL etc. We were a little late departing but both the delays were caused by air traffic control and not by Flyjet or ground crews as we boarded on time. The cabin staff were very helpful, cheerful and the service was great.
In an age where we are all looking for the cheapest deal but are being hit with higher charges for fuel and taxes what do you expect???? If you want all the frills and fancy bits, book with Cyprus Airways or BA.
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Heraklion Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Julie Comments: Flight out delayed by over 15 hours - as there is only one jet operating out of Newcastle and their 0700 flight to Tenerife still hadn't left by the time of our flight (1845) it didn't need much imagination to realise that this was not going to be a good experience.
Added to that there was complete lack of information at desk and operatives only admitted there was one plane when asked a direct question. Return flight no better, and despite being delayed overnight passengers were not offered a bed for the night but sat on garden furniture in a local hotel - only offered leftover lamb kebabs at 0400am (UGH).
No information given on return time either ('indefinite delay' on the board was all you could expect) and so-called refreshments during the long wait at Heraklion were a bottle of water or coke and a cheese and ham sandwich (no alternatives for dietary/religious considerations I might add).
Flyjet had actually managed to charter a different plane on the return trip which was considerably more comfortable than their own on the outward journey. No meals provided on way out despite being included on all tickets, and the smallest amount of space I have ever been squashed into - any time the trolley went past it woke people trying to sleep off what was a truly horrible experience.
Thankfully Flyjet are giving up their charter flights but how airports can have sanctioned such a two bit operation in the first place is a question that needs asking.
Date of Travel: Aug 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Eddie & Joe Harper Comments: We flew to Larnaca in august and after reading comments on this web site about this airline we was quite worried, but after the flight we were pleasantly surprised. Ok the in flight entertainment was non-existent, but the staff were pleasant and understanding. On the return journey there was no ice for the drinks and no pillows or blankets or any entertainment again, but this is a no frills cheap airline. Would recommend this airline for a cheap holiday, take your own entertainment (gameboy or psp) or read a good book, but don't moan at the flight staff they do a good job under the circumstances.
Date of Travel: Jul 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Dalaman Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: familyfrommanchester Comments: Well we all have read some horror stories - but if you pay £130 pp (all inclusive of taxes, etc) what do you expect - BA?
Well maybe I expected a bit more than I got.
Flyjets customer service was good - they promptly replied to emails so that I could collect my tickets before the flight. Check in was quick and painless on both sides. The outgoing flight was delayed two hours - but this happens to all airlines. This was a value flight so food was not included - so we bought some at the airport - which was fine.
The problem was with the plane. OK I was expecting it to be old flying stock (757 vintage), and I expected cramped accommodation. Both we got!
What I was not expecting was the noise the air conditioning system made in rows 21 to 23. It was Deafening and made the flight uncomfortable. Oddly if you moved forward or back a few rows the noise was acceptable. So what gives? Faulty AC system, maybe, but it was the same plane there and back and the fault remained. Possibly I should have asked if they supplied Flyjet complimentary earplugs!!!
If it were not for this annoying fault then the flight would have scored OK. But on a midnight/early morning flight it would be nice if you could get some rest or even sleep.
So overall - with Flyjet you get what you pay for. On this route with this plane I cannot recommend them. Maybe it's better on their other two planes or routes. I have notified Flyjet of this fault.
Sorry Flyjet - get the plane fixed.

Very nice looking aircraft on the outside and inside wasn't too bad also. In need of a few repairs but nothing major.
The crew where excellent apart from the manager an guy at the front he was really rude with one of his larger female colleges and basically made the back do all the work whilst they sat their and ate and laughed the whole flight.
But the crew at the rear of the aircraft where really nice.
So apart from the little things it was a great flight.
One more thing is there was no movie, I won't go on about it as I am sure the airline knows this is a problem.
Date of Travel: Jul 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Dalaman Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Keith Pendlington Comments: Outbound flight on 6 July was delayed slightly due to the aircraft not been refuelled. Aircraft (Boeing 757. G-FJEB) was built in 1989 and is looking tired inside, but otherwise could not fault it as we had a very smooth flight, piloted by the female co-pilot. This was classified as a 'V' (Value) flight, and did not expect an onboard meal, but we were served an extremely tasty complimentary breakfast. Cabin crew were excellent and cheerful. Leg room is one of the worst I have experienced. They cram 233 passengers into this aircraft.Landed in Dalaman on time. Inbound flight on 20 July was the same aircraft and was on time and we had an excellent landing in Manchester in heavy rain. Only negative was that some imbecile had dumped his/her chewing gum during the previous flight on the carpet where I was sitting.
Summary: All in all, excellent value for money, but aircraft interior is very tired and in need of some repairs.
Date of Travel: Jul 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Chris Comments: The condition of the interior of the plane was very poor. Parts of the ceiling were held together using silicon sealant, and a poor job at that. These planes were probably used in the war they were so old. I am not a nervous flyer normally but I was relieved when we touched down in Manchester. The noise of the air conditioning was deafening which made the flight almost unbearable, and guess what the TV's are still not working as said on previous comments. We won't be using this airline again as you can imagine.
Date of Travel: Jul 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Sharm El Sheikh Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Liam Comments: Was due to fly out of Manchester on Tuesday 10th July to Sharm El Sheikh at 10am and we was informed of an 12 hour delay so we had to go and check in at the Radisson Hotel near the airport, the airline didn't even do this free of charge we had to pay ourselves. The new flight time was 2215, at 1500 we got letter under the hotel door informing us that the flight was now not going to leave Manchester until Wed 11th Jul at 12pm due to technical problems with the aircraft. We eventually departed Manchester at 1345 27 hours and 45 mins after we were due to depart. The aircraft was messy and smelt of sick and was very uncomfortable.
On the return journey on Tuesday 24th Jul we arrived at the airport to be informed of an 8 hour delay so we had to stay in the airport which is very small and there was more than 200 of us in this little room and we got given a voucher worth £6.50 for each person, we was due to leave Sharm El Sheikh at 1830 and was told we wouldn't be departing until 25 July at 0230, after being in the airport for 6.5 hours we was then informed by the staff that the aircraft has bin grounded in Manchester and wouldn't be leaving the UK until 0900 on 25 July and we had to stay in the airport in a very small space for another 14 hours, we got given another voucher worth £8 which I thought was disgusting. On 25 July the staff informed us that the aircraft would be leaving Manchester at 0930 which was 1130 in Sharm El. The aircraft finally landed into Sharm El Sheikh at 2020 Egypt time and we departed at 2150 27 hours and 20 mins late.
I would never ever recommend this airline to anyone and would advice people to pay that little bit more to fly with another better airline that this one I don't think this airline should be allowed to be a chatter airline they are a disgrace.

My parents and brother were supposed to leave Newcastle Airport at 10am yesterday (Monday 31st July) yet have just departed at 00.20am this morning (Tuesday 1st August).
On arrival at Newcastle they were advised there would be a short delay, then they were told there was a problem with the aircraft and an aircraft was being brought in from Manchester and that they would depart at 6.45pm. I checked the internet to relay information to my family at the airport but couldn't see any information for a flight from Manchester to Newcastle, however what I did see was ANOTHER delayed flight by Flyjet from Manchester to Sharm El Sheikh that was supposed to depart at 10am Monday 31st July yet is delayed until 9am today (Tuesday 1st August), so I rang my mam back to advise her that it seemed that the airline was having problems. In the meantime my mam had been informed that they would be moving to a hotel for food then they were told that no plane was coming from Manchester, but Lisbon instead. To a cut a very long a tedious story short, they eventually at 00.20a, this morning, a whooping 14 hours late.
At the time of writing this there are passengers stranded in Tenerife and Sharm El Sheikh to get home to Newcastle and Manchester respectively, and passengers stuck at Manchester trying to get to Sharm El Sheikh.
Does Flyjet only have 1 plane?
I hope my family and the other passengers eventually have a nice holiday, but I assume that none of them will be using this unorganized and unprofessional company ever again.
Date of Travel: Jul 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Lanzarote Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Raymond Stewart Comments: Four hour delay made worse by not being given accurate and honest information. Constantly told that we would be boarding in 15 minutes only to be told the same again 20 minutes later. Called to the gate and told the same boarding in 15 minutes rubbish and were eventually told to go back to the main lounge. On going technical problem was the only explanation. Eventually got on the plane which was very shabby and no television etc.
Pilot explained that the problem was the cargo door which had been closed onto a tie down hook causing a small dent and they were waiting for clearance from engineering that the damage was not structural. Very old aircraft and was relieved to get there safely. Very pleased that the return flight was with Air Atlantic (I think) which had been chartered by Flyjet. Have since been told by a neighbour that Flyjet only have 2 aircraft ( one at Newcastle and one at Manchester ) and the Newcastle one has had so many 24 hour delays due to unreliability they have now got rid of it.

Complementary hot breakfast served on outward, and hot meal on homeward journey, cup of tea though was expensive at £1.80. Flight on-time for return journey. Cabin staff were O.K. Remember this is "no frills" flight so there is no in-flight entertainment, we took our own personal DVD player to pass the time on the 4.25Hr flight. All in all you get what you pay for so I'd definitely recommend Flyjet, just don't expect luxury. Did not hear A/C noise, either fixed or we were in rows 4+5 which were maybe not affected.

Flight left early, arrived early. Cabin Crew were extremely happy, attentive and enthusiastic. Chief Cabin Attendant should have been proud of their team. You could tell they were enjoying what they were doing and looked extremely smart - nice to see an old style airline uniform.
Service onboard was excellent, good range of drinks/snacks and the best thing a free hot lunch was served - a definite bonus these days. It was good quality and tasty. Crew were constantly in the cabin and we had lots of opportunities to buy products. Informative announcements made by the crew. Something small, but hot towels were even issued, fantastic!
The aircraft was a little old, with no entertainment but service made up for it. Legroom was restricted, I would recommend paying the extra for legroom.
Return journey, equally pleasant.
Will be sorry to see Flyjet disappear.

However I was pleasantly surprised with the flights we had. We left a little late on the outbound flight but we made the time up and still landed 5 mins early. On the way back we left on time and again landed early.
While there was no film on either flight, the plane was clean and the legroom was at least as good or if not better than others we have flown with (Thomson Mytravel etc). The meals were very good and the service of the crew was excellent. All in all we were very happy with both flights, especially when we were found a spare row of seats so our nearly two year old girl could have her own seat with us on the way back.

Okay the aircraft are old, and a little tatty, but nowadays so are lots of charter airlines! We left on time both ways and ended up early twice. The cabin crew were excellent, had time to speak with the passengers not just rush through the aircraft like they do at other airlines. Had plenty of services and plenty of drinks were offered?
I would definitely fly with this airline again, one of the best flights I've experienced in a long time, and I've been on many! Well done Flyjet! Keep up the good work and you have some fantastic staff working for you who should be proud of yourselves!

We had to pay an extra £1-80, for this, surely you can stretch to a cuppa? Is that so much to ask? You do encourage us to drink more fluids, is this to our own cost? Come on now you are a brilliant holiday company, surely you can spare a cup of tea! If we bring the tea-bags will you give us the hot water? Only joking, many thanks to all who assisted us.

Would just like to add, on every in-flight meal we have ever had it has been accompanied with tea or coffee-Free with our meal. On this trip we had to pay £1-80 for a cup of tea or coffee. How does this encourage people on a low budget to keep on drinking plenty of fluids? When h20 on board isn't cheap? For families. Please find a solution. Thank you

Cartwright Comments: Read reviews with dismay when I viewed this site. However, traveling with Flyjet is no worse than any of the other charter airlines.
Flights were on time going and delayed by twenty minutes on return though this was caused by air traffic control restrictions. One of the cabin crew told us that the aircraft was twenty four years old but it performed well. The cabin crew were pleasant and efficient and the captain kept us well informed on our progress throughout the flight.
The meals served were of good quality. However, beverages were not provided and had to be purchased. I think that £1.80 for a cup of tea or coffee is a bit steep.
In flight entertainment has been disabled permanently which wasn't a problem for us but might be a concern for those with children to entertain on a long flight.
I understand that the current fleet is due to be replaced in October with newer aircraft.

Fly jet don't accept pre booked meals or leg room on their cheap flights but they offer an all day breakfast and sandwiches and snacks at prices similar to other airlines. There was no film but on a short flight this doesn't really matter. The planes may be a little older than other flights you may have been on but we saved a load of money using them and it was well worth it. When you have to reconfirm your return flight home it is just a phone number that you ring which has a recorded message with the return flights home although you are supposed to ring 18-48 before our flight wasn't actually on till about 12 hours before. I'd definitely use fly jet again if I wanted luxury then I'd expect to pay more than I did for this flight.

Coming home was the same thing. Late late late 27 hours this time and the same problem with the aircraft. Will Flyjet ever learn.
I got told that Newcastle airport has told Flyjet not to return after October, I am pleased with this.
I know we never paid a lot for the holiday to Spain, but one expects to be looked after if anything should go wrong, we only got told to claim from the insurance company.
P.s. all though the may to August Flyjet have lots of problems and delays and lack of crew from Newcastle... guess you get what you pay for
Date of Travel: May 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Colette Martin Comments: Flight delayed both ways, on the way to Larnaca we were delayed by an hour, which isn't too bad, but we were told the reason was due to outside influences and that as soon as a time slot was available we would be ready to fly, we would have believed this had the fuel line not been attached to the plane!!!! The service on the plane was practical without the niceties you expect from cabin crew, almost as though they were doing you a favour by serving you!
Coming back yet again delayed by a short time but herded onto the plane like cattle and sat in the blistering heat for over 30mins, when people started asking for aircon, the captain explained that because of the type of plane, the aircon would only work while the engine was on.
On the way out we were told there would be no TV due to a technical difficulty, on the way home we were told it was due to an ongoing technical difficulty!
The seats were shabby and torn and the broken TVs were cracked around the housing that secured them to the ceiling of the plane, very un-nerving!
Very cramped flight, very poor service! Would not fly with them again EVER!

(On the return flight) take off and landing water came from the TVs so there was no films played, I think due to water coming from them.
the flight was on time outwards and return, I have been on some flights but this one was not nice, they did the old style safety procedures which I have never seen in years, when cabin crew made announcements you heard them laugh and joke.
I booked a Airtours flight and didn't think I would get service like this, and a plane that was as old as my Gran

Got bussed to the plane which was somewhere on the ground at Manchester, this should make you aware of what is to come. Took off with a slight delay the seats were very shabby and uncomfortable with very little leg room, my husband is 6' 3" and found the flight extremely uncomfortable as hFlyjet! Got bussed to the plane which was somewhere on the ground at Manchester, this should make you aware of what is to come. Took off with a slight delay the seats were very shabby and uncomfortable with very little leg room, my husband is 6' 3" and found the flight extremely uncomfortable as his legs were against the seat in front and got the kids from hell in front who insisted on banging the back of the seat. Breakfast was okay but covered in tomato, which not liking them meant I didn't eat very much.
Flight back was delayed by eventually 1hr 15 minutes. Again, the plane was very shabby. No in flight entertainment on either journey. Legroom appeared even less. Yes, my husband had the same child from hell in front of him on the return journey. Landed at Manchester and had a ride around the back of the airport wondering whether it was ever going to stop and it eventually stopped somewhere which looked like the cargo stands, they did however have buses waiting for when we got off.
Would I fly with Flyjet again NO!! Originally booked with Excel but flew with Flyjet - beware!!!

Date of Travel: May 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Dalaman Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Alison griffin Comments: Incorrect flight times on tickets meaning all 200+ passengers at the airport 1.5 hours too early queuing for check-In. Customer service onboard below average, I overheard a member of the cabin crew say 'oh I'm tired lets hope they all fall to sleep'. Asked for a blanket as I was sat near the doors and was told very bluntly 'we don't have blankets'. Aircraft have definitely seen better days with no entertainment on board at all. Cheap and cheerless!!
Date of Travel: May 2007 Flying from: Newcastle International Airport Flying to: Sharm El Sheikh Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Mondax16 Comments: Flyjet!!! Don't bother!!! We were unlucky enough to be on the cancelled flight to Sharm on the 13th May and can honestly say that the treatment suffered at the hands of Flyjet was appalling at best.
We endured 8 hours sat on the tarmac with no food or drink. A catalogue of errors that lead to the eventual cancellation of the flight occurred. We were literally held captive during the delay and whilst it was reported that police were put on the plane as the crew were scared of the passengers, I can only report one case of bad behavior, from a smoker who was obviously desperate for a cigarette after 8hours, but apart from that the remaining passengers behaved exceptionally well under difficult circumstances.
I think that all the "technical " faults that these old planes are suffering is very worrying and I can honestly say I have never felt as unsafe as I did once we actually took to the skies as the plane was making noises I have never heard before.
The only good thing that Flyjet had on this occasion was a couple of members of staff who were beyond reproach but I think even one of them resigned the following day. The ground staff were terrible also and it took two hours to get a meal voucher and arrange a bed for the night as they kept running out of vouchers (delay started at 12 noon and finally ate and drank at 10.20 pm). The police were the most helpful people on duty that night, the staff were clueless!!
I have complained in writing since coming home and as you can guess have had no acknowledgement. We were only away a week and lost a full day, don't do it, don't fly Flyjet.

We have nothing but praise for this small but [in our opinion] very good airline. We would definitely fly with them again.
Date of Travel: Oct 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Larnaca Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Mrs Helen Brewerton Comments: My family travelled on this airline at the last minute as the original carriers were cancelled at the last minute. The flight was delayed by 3 hours as they were catching up on flights delayed from the Thursday (this was now Monday) due to fog.
The plane must have come out of retirement from the last century. The plane had not been cleaned for god knows how long, the seats and back rests were broken. My grandson and myself got soaked all we needed were shampoo and shower gel and we could have had a shower were we sat at least it would have saved time.
The food was not handed to you but thrown I use the word food very lousy as I would not have fed it to my dog. The drinks were non existent the flight attendants ignorant. For most of the flight they sat on there backsides reading, eating, and drinking. My grandson wanted a drink of water half way through the flight (he is 4) the look she gave him you would have thought he had asked her to jump without a parachute.
Would I fly with this company never I would loose my money first or walk that would be a better alternative; use this company at your own risk.
Date of Travel: Sep 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Sharm El Sheikh Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Mr T Hooker Comments: Myself, my wife and two friends were to fly out to Sharm on the 16 September with FlyJet at 09:15. We arrived 3hrs15mins before we were due to fly. So we were all in holiday mood. We booked in at 06:30 (45mns. before book in time). We were not informed of any delay at this time. So we all thought we were going to take off on time.
After an hour passed our take off time we were still none the wiser on take off. We went and asked the information desk when we were going to fly. An aircraft was flying from Sharm as it would arrive, have a quick turn round and we would be off. We waited another hour and were then called to the information desk to receive a £5 voucher: which could only be used in certain places. But what with another of their planes being delayed since Friday to go to Corfu most of the food had gone. Eventually after a 7 hour delay we boarded. Only to be squashed into seats that were so cramped you could not straighten your legs. So much for the exercises for D.V.T.
The interior of the plane could have done with a good clean. Maybe even fixing some of the loose covers that had wires sticking out, and making some of the meal trays level so as no food or drink slid onto your lap. After talking to one of the aircrew: who informed us that the aircraft landed the night before with a fault. (Which if they had decent ground crew could have been repaired that night).
The stewardesses came round selling headphones for £3; which could only use on one side of the aircraft: the portside. Which was down to "technical fault”. Two of the stewards were down right rude to my friend. One of the stewardesses whenever she walked up and down the isles banged into people. Eventually we arrived at Sharm got off the aircraft with a bad back from being so confined.
We were dreading the return flight in case we we "confined" again. But the aircraft we flew home in had more leg room. The tables could have done with a good clean as there was stale food and drink stains on them. The seal on one of the toilets was stuck open. (What a sight!!)This was reported to one of the stewards who informed us that "He'll get it fixed".
So all we can say is DON'T FLY WITH FLYJET! Unless maybe you're into discomfort.
Date of Travel: Sep 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Rhodes Diagoras Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Alan Mills Comments: Airframe ready for a total refit or scrap, the seats were very worn and still had ash trays on the arms, shabby and air con was dripping on passengers.
They failed to load my luggage, and I received it eight days into an eleven day holiday. This caused me great stress, to be left with no clothes in a 5 star hotel, very slick.
There is no phone number listed for this airline, seems a Mickey Mouse airline. I have written to ask for compensation for my luggage delay but you guessed it they have not replied.

Meals where better then other charter standards and plenty of drinks offered.
Seats where ok bit cramped but on a 757 all the same.
TV screens hard to see but good films on.
Great airline will fly with Flyjet again this year.
Just heard that Flyjet is also an airline called Silverjet who are meant to be great also so will give them a try to the states.
Date of Travel: Aug 2006 Flying from: London Gatwick Airport Flying to: Sharm El Sheikh Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Sarah Blackstaffe Comments: I read lots of really bad reviews about FlyJet but remained optimistic thinking that for every bad review there has to be a happy customer and maybe we would be that customer! I wouldn't say that it was an amazingly fantastic service but it was okay. The flight was on time going out and delayed by 2.5 hours coming back. I did not order food for either journey but we managed to get a meal each (there were 4 of us) on both journeys and the food was quite nice. The staff were very courteous. The plane wasn't the most comfortable, my partner and I are both tall and unless you are willing to pay lost of cash the leg room is never very generous on these flights. All in all I was happy with using FlyJet and would consider them again.
Date of Travel: Aug 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Tenerife South Reina Sofia Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: Yes Submitted By: S Wroe Comments: I like others have read the negative reviews of this airline and before I flew it made me nervous. After flying with Flyjet I can only say that the reviews good or bad are purely subjective. My experience is of a small no frills charter company that provide an adequate and reasonably punctual service. Yes the aircraft are a bit tatty and a little cramped but no more than Thomas Cook. The crew were professional. The food admittedly wasn't Michelin standard but it was edible. If you are used to Club class flying then this airline won't suit you. If like the rest of us, you regularly fly charter then Flyjet will do!
Date of Travel: Jun 2005 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Corfu International Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Dan Comments: Absolutely awful. I think we booked through Olympic holidays who by the way provided poor accommodation aswell as poor flight. We could not have a drink on the way there or on the way back due to the water and heating system being broke and we went for 2 weeks! Surely they should have fixed it in that time.
The plane was really old- not even as good as Ryanair and Easyjet- with the old fashioned seating and televisions (which were poor quality aswell.)
