Having read a number of poor reviews for this airline it is with some trepidation that I boarded my flight to Toronto... I have no complaints the staff were friendly and helpful offering a great service throughout both journeys. The food was good but not outstanding. Movies not the most exciting but then you can take a good book with you. Having travelled many times with BA and paid a lot more for indifferent service I would deffintely recommend Globespan. Its deffinitely worth paying for the extra leg room. I watched while they helped an elderly disabled passenger they were very patient giving her an upgrade.
Give them a try

I traveled to Sanford from Glasgow for a lot less money than if I had traveled with any other airline. I had read many bad reviews of this airline, but I needn't have worried, the flight was on time both directions, it was clean, the crew (which were Italian and would have been better for communication to be Scottish) helpful and the food, whilst not being the best, was certainly not the worst. I would certainly FlyGlobespan again.

Our flight from Manchester was delayed approx 1 hour due to dispute with caterers! Flight quite good apart from that. Not allowed to use toilet a few yards in front of us though as this was for business passengers. Had to join queue at back of plane for 2 toilets.
Return flight was the worst experience with a 22 hour delay. We never got a real answer as to why we were delayed. There are no Globespan staff at Hamilton and trying to contact them is impossible. We were put up in a hotel and even they had no communication from Globespan. Not a very professional way to run a business.
We will never use Globespan again or recommend them. The flights may be cheaper but you lose out in lost earnings, car parking and food bills as the vouchers they provide are just not adequate. We had a lovely holiday and Globespan spoilt our happy time with their pathetic service.

We have just flown to and from JFK with Globespan and I can honestly say that it was an excellent service. The flight to New York was a short 6 and a half hours with the return a mere 5 hours 40mins. The Cabin Crew were friendly and efficient and enjoyed having a laugh with the passengers. I understand that there have been people who have had dreadful experiences with this airline, but in all fairness, sometimes when you fly, things do go wrong. Traveling can be stressful. And not everyone is perfect. Thanks to Globespan for their great service on this occasion. Well done!

The price of our trip was extremely reasonable and we were even upgraded to Business Class by e.mail. Staff on the return flight to Gatwick were brilliant, but unfortunately the Business Class flight attendant on the outgoing flight to Canada needed lessons in how to smile. Maybe they were shortstaffed as I noticed on return to Gatwick, there were two attendants in Business Class. All in all, Globespan is good value for money and Hamilton Airport is a great destination if you are intending to visit the Niagara region which we did.

My 4 year old grand daughter and I flew from Liverpool to Hamilton (Toronto) in August this year. Having read previous reviews prior to our flight, I was feeling rather apprehensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the flight was comfortable, the attendants presented themselves professionally, and even our seats, which were situated on the back row of the plane and, therefore nearest to the toilet, were not subject to any strange aromas. The bonus on the flight was the free meal offered to passengers, which my grand daughter ate with relish, (I declined this due to not eating meat).
I would fly with this airline again, as the value for money was excellent.

Lack of refreshments to prevent dehydration .3 time delays from LGW and Manchester; plus extra 1.20 hrs flying time Manchester to Vancouver. Complete ignorance by cabin crew to bell summons. Not just mine, but 50 mins to bring ice to warm vodka! This is unacceptable. What can I expect on return journey 6th October? Am I able to ask for more than 1 drink .What does complimentary drinks mean? Or priority boarding.

Well I thought we'd had a rough time with these cowboys but having read some other reviews I'm beginning to think we got off lightly!
We were delayed 12.5 hours flying out of Liverpool to JFK on Saturday 25th August; the flight was over 1 hour late before there was any sort of announcement, which stated that the next announcement would be in 1 hour...this continued for many hours, with customers growing more and more agitated and Globespan staff conspicuous by their absence.
Food vouchers for £4 per customer were handed out after about 3 hours. When pressed for further information the ground staff tried to fob us off with the plane being delayed on another flight sector. Eventually they admitted that the plane was in fact in Edinburgh being fixed following technical problems and that we were looking at an "indefinite" delay, and handed out further food vouchers to the value of £8.
The main problem seemed to be a total lack of information from Globespan in Edinburgh to the ground staff at Liverpool airport - once they had information they passed it onto the customers, but this took an inordinate length of time considering the fact that Globespan must have known about the technical problems with the aircraft long before check in time, but did not feel it necessary to advise their customers.
Chatting to a stewardess on the flight, it sounds like they treat their staff with a similar level of disregard, as she had been on call since 9am Saturday, and the flight did not take off until approx 3.30am Sunday!
Similar problems awaited us at JFK on our return flight - this was delayed 4 hours due to "technical problems", further compounded by problems with the airport's computer system which meant it took us nearly 3 hours to check in and clear security, armed with handwritten boarding cards (but I don't suppose I can blame Globespan for that...can I?).
These cowboys are clearly not capable of running a long haul service; quite apart from their complete inability to get a plane off the ground on time, their customer service, quite frankly, stinks. BE WARNED; DO NOT FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE!!!

No dedicated check-in at Exeter as per ticket (no problem as queue was short). No dedicated check-in at Hamilton on return as per ticket but as 3 flights were being checked in from 1 queue and initially only 1 check-in desk open we waited ages.
In-flight food dire. On both flight legs I think there were 36 Business passengers using the front 2 toilets whilst the rest of the passengers had to use the 2 rear toilets, Oh! Boy did the toilets emit an unpleasant odour even when boarding the return flight to Exeter.
Homeward (and outward), seats booked in advance but they were occupied and initially my wife and I were expected to travel separately; I must say that the cabin crew were helpful in reseating us but why did this happen when we ended up with aisle and middle seats when we booked middle and window seats?
If it wasn't for the fact that Exeter Airport was convenient for our journey from home and return we certainly wouldn't consider this airline again.

My partner and I have just returned from a holiday to Florida which was booked through Flyglobespan. Having initially read so many horror stories about Flyglobespan we were a bit apprehensive, however there was no need for us to worry. The outbound and inbound flights were only 15 minutes delayed however the pilot was able to make this time up in the air. The accommodation which was a 4 bed roomed villa with a private pool was excellent but maybe just a bit out of the way and quite difficult to find so late at night.

When the Glasgow/Boston service was announced last year we were first in the queue. Booked in August 2006 to fly in July 2007.
Departure/Arrival times were just what we wanted, 50 inch seat pitch in premium, 30k luggage allowance, direct flights. Perfect.
First change, 50 inch seat pitch no more. 34 inch with premium section having centre seats vacant (i.e. for a family of 4 seats booked would be 1A, 1C, 1D, and 1F leaving 1B and 1E empty). Seat selection was unavailable for several weeks but eventually came online. Seating plan showed 1st row was 1A to 1C only, 2nd row and back were full rows. Booked 2nd row giving 3 normal seats and 3 bulkhead seats (I'm 6'2 and need the leg room, especially after the 50-inch seat pitch was revoked.). Not happy at the change but decide to live with it. Book accommodation and parking at Glasgow for departure date (early start), connections and car hire at Boston for arrival.
Second change, flight times shifted substantially. Cancel accommodation and parking at Glasgow for departure date, connections and car hire at Boston for arrival. Cancellation fees incurred. Not happy at the change but decide to live with It.
Third change, extra stop added on outbound flight in Ireland. Adds another hour or so to the flight.
Fourth change, price hike due to Mr. Brown's budget. Extra airport duty added to invoice, despite the fact that the online price of the flight, including new taxes, had fallen to less than we had already paid. We could now have booked with a real airline like BA, KLM or Continental for less. They all have a stopover but hey, so do FlyGlobespan now.
Fifth change, four weeks to go, suddenly our seats, booked almost a year before, have been double booked and we have been bumped down the aircraft for our outbound flight. So no bulkhead outbound for me.
Sixth change, oh and by the way the seating plan for both flights has been changed so 1st row is now a full row. So no bulkhead inbound for me. Just tried to get confirmation on the vacant status of the middle seats on our row, our 'compensation' for loosing 50-inch seat pitch you may recall. Ominous silence.
So I've still not flown with them but I'm totally pi**d off. Perhaps the actual flights will redeem them. I'll let you know.

It's with immense trepidation that I am facing a flight next Tuesday 10 July with Banana Airways (aka Flyglobespan)
With much fanfare and publicity, these cowboys announced daily direct flights from Liverpool to New York from May 07.
I was amongst the first to book, way back in October 06
First change (though not informed by Flyglobespan, found by checking their website): flight moved to JFK from Newark
Second change: stopover added in Ireland, adding 2 hours to flight & change in departure/arrival time
Since flights commenced at end of May, almost every single day, flights have been severely delayed or cancelled, indeed fo rthe last few days, the local evening paper in Liverpool, the Echo has reported tales of irate/upset passengers having being stranded in JFK for 4 yes FOUR days, ie last Friday til Monday.
I understand that the problem was exacerbated due to the terrorist threat, but Flyglobespan have endured problems prior to this last weekend, indeed the Echo newspaper reported that Flyglobespan had to fly a "technical expert" out to JFK over the weekend to resolve the ongoing technical problems.
Is it too much to believe that Banana Airways cannot utilise another plane in their fleet or lease on short term a plane from a reputable real airline company?
this has very much taken the shine off my eagerly anticipated holiday, I know that should I visit USA in the future, sadly I will have to use Manchester Airport rather than my own local airport.

Great flight from Glasgow to Sanford. It left 20 minutes late and arrived 15 minutes early. Business class was an excellent service and I didn't feel like I had been on a 9 hour flight . The crew were Italian as was the plane but they were polite and helpful. I know there are lots of complaints about this airline but I have flown to several destinations around Europe and twice to Sanford in the last 10 months and I have been happy with all flights, maybe this has been luck but I will fly with them again.

Disabled travelers beware!! I booked disabled assistance well in advance and also re-confirmed on the day of travel. I received no assistance whatsoever and had to ask fellow passengers to get me wheelchair and push me through to departure on both legs of the journey.
Staff at both airports and on the plane couldn't care less. I asked for a seat near the toilets and was told I had to walk from the front of the plane to the back when there was a toilet 3 metres away reserved for the 20 people in business class.
there was no wheelchair waiting on disembarkation and the cabin crew told me there was nothing they could do as the pilot hadn't requested one.
My wheelchair battery was left at the departure airport and I am still waiting to hear when I will receive it 2 days after my return.
Un-acceptable behavior all round

Traveling to Vancouver on Globespan was very comfortable. Pillows and blankets were on our seats on boarding. The crew were Italian and seemed short staffed for the amount of passengers on board. We had a surly stewardess who was a bit abrupt with passengers asking for assistance as she was rushed to bits trying to serve everyone in her section.
On the return journey we must have got the worst seat ever near the toilet, the air conditioning was freezing so we could not get any sleep at all. We had to ask for 2 pillows and 2 blankets she returned with 1 of each to share between us as their was not enough to go round. I don't think the premier was worth the extra money and a few free drinks. Better off paying just for the leg room only

Both flights there and back were delayed with little or no explanation given. Boarding time came and went before a quick sorry was given over the tannoy.
Flight crew both there and back were Italian so there were a few communication errors.
Business class was supposed to have its own check in but at both Glasgow and Vancouver you would have been better off in the economy queue. No special treatment given. To make things worse we had a new employee check us in at Vancouver who knew nothing! He argued with us for 5 minutes that we were over our baggage limit and we would have to pay extra. This was only resolved when a supervisor appeared and he realised we were sitting in business class with a 40kg baggage limit. He thought he was checking in economy passengers! A quick sorry was given and they shoved our boarding passes at us and shouted next. I was so mad.
Then when we finally boarded the plane 45 minutes late again with no explanation we headed home to Glasgow with a stop in Calgary to pick up new passengers. Here we were told there was a technical problem with the plane and we would incur a 10 minutes delay. 1 hour later we finally took off with no apology. Because of all of the delays we were finally served our evening meal at 11.50pm!!!!!
Worst airline I have been on and I will not travel with them again.

Be warned : Do not use this airline!! To be truthful our outbound flight was on time, although I overheard the air stewardess commenting to her colleague "Wow this is the first time I've known this plane to be on time!".
However we pre booked seats with extra leg room; we spent 50£ however were just in normal seats with very little leg room. Managed to move us only because the seats at the front were free. Had to stop over in Knock in Ireland, this was never mentioned anywhere on our tickets or as we booked the flights. Added a good hour to our flights which was a nuisance.
It was the return flight which was a disaster : the plane coming into JFK was delayed so we were told we were one hour delayed. Finally got on the plane after 2 hours, not one, and were told we had missed our taking off slot. Had to wait a further two hours sat on the runway with hardly an apology from the pilot. So took off 4 hours after the allocated departure time.
Then landed over in Ireland, were told it would take 30 minutes stopover time: an hour and a half later the pilot announces he was going to have to land in Stansted in London not Liverpool because the plane was "needed for another flight in Stansted". This is 11.30am ; we checked when we got back and the flight out of Stansted was at 1800 hours to Cyprus; surely there was enough time for them to fly to Liverpool then fly on to Stansted for a 1800 flight?
So landed at Stansted; horrendously turbulent landing with people crying on the plane, pilot announced ten minutes to landing and 25mins later were still circling through thick grey cloud. Then had to wait two hours for our bags to get off the plane; everyone was panicking thinking they were lost in Ireland. Then an 8 hour coach journey to Liverpool; to top it all off the coach broke down so we had to wait half an hour for a new one to show up!!
Apparently FlyGlobeSpan have a habit of dumping passengers at random airports; we got no food or drink, no vouchers or anything so had to spend ten pounds in a service station buying food and drink. Also no toilet on bus!
Even though we were told a Globespan representative would be waiting in Liverpool airport for us, they had long scarpered as there was absolutely nobody from Globespan in the airport at all.
I believe FlyGlobespan just don't have the expertise and experience to fly planes over to America; heard many horror stories of other passengers getting stranded in America for up to 4 days so I think we got off lucky.
It's worth it paying the extra money to fly with a proper airline and be comfortable and feel secure. Plane we flew on was obviously very old which is never very comforting.
A pathetic excuse of an airline.

In 35 years of flying this was my worst experience by an order of magnitude. Flight crews were fine, but ground and office personnel were inexperienced, incompetent and supervision was not in evidence. Worst of all they considered passengers as livestock that would do anything they were told till a near mutiny broke out.
Departure - 4 hours late, but that was the good news.
Return - 6 hour flight turned into a 53 hour odyssey that added two new stops and incredulity as to how this company stays in business. I sure wish I had read some of the previous reviews.
Never again.
Has anybody had any success getting refunds for additional expenses? And is there somewhere else we can complain that might hurt globescam?

Arrived at Hamilton only to find out that the Belfast/London flight had been cancelled and the poor Manchester passengers had been waiting for 7 hours.
Checked in and departure time came and went. We were told that the problem with both flights was down to them not having the flight plan paperwork in order.
After about an hour the Manchester flight was cancelled too but we were allowed to board. The plane smelled very strongly of urine, it was appalling. Sat there for another 30mins or so before they decided to take-off.
The smell was making us all sick in the tail section, the tannoy kept beeping, and the cabin crew were very noisy during what was supposed to be a night flight so we got about an hour's sleep in total.
Landed in Shannon for what was supposed to be a 30min stopover. This turned into 2 hours and was again blamed on the flight plan paperwork. Plane was still stinking.
I'll never ever fly with this company again, nor recommend them to anyone.

My parents and I just returned from our holiday. We flew with Flyglobespan from Hamilton to London. I left with quite a bit of fear and trepidation (after reading all of the negative reviews and a couple of mechanical mishaps Globespan had had a few weeks prior to our flight).
I was pleasantly surprised however. In both cases our flights arrived a few minutes early. The service on board was excellent. The food was probably better than most airline foods I've had. There were no issues whatsoever.
Is it a luxury or high class airline? No, but that's not what we paid for...we definitely got our value for the money we paid. Good on you Flyglobespan!

I cannot stress strongly enough to suggest anyone who uses FLYGOBESPAN after reading these reviews has to be insane! Our Flight was a joke, while I'm Reading reports of Italian Cabin Crews etc...
Our Crew were UK based and have to be the rudest lot I've ever come across. Apart from a filthy ex Icelandair Jet, it had the appearance of a cinema that was about to be demolished on the interior, in flight catering was disgusting - IFE not working - would not have been too bad if I had been trained as a lip reader. Would not accept euros on board, it appears that the flight originated in LPL and most of the passengers had not been informed that they would be landing in Ireland
Apart from our additional tour of the polar route on the way home on a 737 which we saw Keflavik in Iceland - as the 737 I've been told does not have the range to that Journey and been lied to be all in sundry. Voted airline of the year 2005... That's is likely as a Beatles Reunion

We have just returned from nightmare delay Sat 14 July with Globespan flight and I have sent off this letter to complaints section does anyone know their full address as I have had difficulty in finding it? Letter below and we hope they respond!!!
Firstly, we were extremely happy with the service, price of flights and journey outward from Edinburgh to Palma Majorca. However, on the return flight from Palma to Edinburgh, the delay and in particular the lack of communication was completely unacceptable.
On arrival at 16.50 the monitor informed us at the Palma airport that the flight was ok and would be boarding at 19.34 for flight at 19.55pm. We made our way to gate A16 as indicated and after 30mins we asked at the checkout desk how long delay would be and we were told that the flight was delayed due to technical difficulties with the plane. After other hour had passed we asked again and were told that another 30 – 1 hour delay as no one was sure what was wrong with the plane.
At 12.30pm – 14 July a passenger who worked for an airline company went downstairs to security to find out what was going on. NO tannoy announcement, no person from Globespan came forward with ANY information. This indeed was unacceptable. At 12.45 we were told by announcement to go and collect our luggage from plane. A lady appeared and said she worked for BMI and had nothing to do with Globespan and that she was trying to find accommodation for 153 passengers from this flight with little notice. She also informed us that passengers with children would be allocated first. Now at 2.30am we were asked to give our names and then transport would be arranged. At 3.15am we were put on bus to hotel accommodation. On arrival at the 2 * Hotel and we were then told there were NO rooms left and we would have to go another 200m up the road to other hotel. My little girl burst into tears and had a coughing asthma attack with all this stress. A lady passenger who had just been given the last room came forward and offered her room as indeed she saw how urgently my child needed a rest. At 3.30am we then climbed FOUR flights of stairs with all luggage and my child who was totally exhausted to go into a very SMALL room with TWO single beds to sleep for 2 ADULTS and 1 child – 11yrs old, again totally unacceptable. At 4.30am we were awakened with loud, shouting boys from room above again not at all acceptable.
In the morning, my husband with little sleep asked when we were being collected and we were told at 10.00AM the bus turned up at 11.30AM again unacceptable.
After arriving at the airport for a SECOND time, this time the PILOT of the plane came down as he felt that we had all been treated terribly with both the lack of communication and we should have ALL been given a 10 euro voucher for food or drinks. The only people who got these vouchers were people who decided to stay at the airport overnight but they only received these vouchers 10.30AM on the following day -14 July. The pilot also informed us that NOT everyone had turned up for the flight and they were phoning around to try and find these people.
At 2.45pm were told to board for our flight to Edinburgh. Then we were informed by the pilot that due to 2 people not turning up we would have to wait for the baggage controllers to search all luggage and take the luggage for the 2 missing people off the plane. Also one of the crew had personally agreed to search for the luggage until this team arrived. After ONE and HALF hours sitting in the plane, we took off and finally arrived in the EDINBURGH 6.30pm, again totally exhausted and stressed out.
Thus this is the FIRST time we have ever flown with your company and we are understandably very angry, frustrated and indeed very stressed out with the way we were treated as customers and would appreciated your urgent investigation of this complaint. Furthermore we have booked another flight with you on 14th October 2007 and we are NOT at all looking forward to this if this is the way customers are treated.
Hence after this stressful situation which in turn spoilt a very good holiday, we feel we should be compensated accordingly..
Therefore, we urge you to give this complaint, your immediate attention and we look forward to hearing from you with a quick response to our complaint, which we feel to be most justified.

This is my Third flight with FlyGlobespan, yet again as happy as ever. I find it very hard to believe that it's the same airline that other people have spoken about. Everything was Excellent on the outbound flight; crew was very polite and helpful. The plane was one of Globespan new 737 - 700's (G-MSJF) newly bought to fly all the new flights from Aberdeen.
On our return flight, after a fast transfer from albufera to faro we were delayed by 35 mins. Our departure time was 12:25Pm but didn't take off till 12: 59. (I was very disappointed to see that Globespan had changed the aircraft to there newest plane 737 - 700 G-SEFC, I was looking forward to sitting in the same seat I did on the outbound hehe) After a lot of apologies from the crew and captain we had a very smooth and eventful flight back home to Aberdeen. In our decent over Edinburgh the captain told us that this would be his last flight as he was retiring after landing in Aberdeen, he also warned us not to panic when we see the fire engines hosing the aircraft down as we came into stand as this was for him. After a very good landing we turned off the runway and taxied through a plane wash of 2 fire engines making an arch for the captain. The aircrafts atmosphere was awesome =}
I have made the decision that I will try to fly FlyGlobespan on every flight I have
Please, if you are looking for a good flight, service etc, fly FlyGlobespan!!!

Fly Globespan at your peril! Those in the organization behind Globespan appear to be the most unreliable, unresponsive, disorganized bunch one could ever have the misfortune to meet. While the administration hides behind unanswered telephone calls and unacknowledged e-mails the check-in staff and cabin crews are left to field the wrath of hordes of furious travelers and to attempt to disentangle the chaos.
Be warned! You are unlikely to get a direct flight to anywhere and will undergo several changes of departure time prior to the date. Don't bother choosing your seat, you won't get it. Booking Premium class doesn't mean you will travel Premium class and the chances are high you won't even sit with the rest of your party.
It can be 2 1/2 hours before you receive so much as a glass of water and you may be lucky to see food halfway through your transatlantic flight.
If you have booked on Globespan already take a close look at the very faint small print and know that the company uses the terms and conditions to the utmost degree and has no interest in you beyond the taking of your money.
Old movies and tired TV shows should be expected on a no-frills airline such as this one. Lack of organization and accountability should not and we will never fly with this sorry excuse for an airline ever again!

Outbound Leg: MAN-YVR (July 19th 2007)
Was on the Neos leased 767-300 (EI-DMJ) for this leg with no problems whatsoever, professional, courteous Italian flight crew who could speak and understand English with a GSM Rep on board to oversee flight operations. The flight was delayed by about an hour due to it landing from London Gatwick but made up time en route arriving in Vancouver at 17:00 Local Time as opposed to 16:35pm as advertised.
Return Leg: YVR-MAN (August 9th 2007)
Again another Neos leased Boeing 767-300 (EI-DOF) with a prompt 16:00 PST take off time and a fantastic 1 hour early arrival time into Manchester, much the same as the above along with excellent IFE a credit to all the bad press that this airline has had
Thank you to Globespan for a great holiday

I have been reading several sites that give several reviews on this airline and its shocking - for one good comment there is about 25 bad ones! Quite unacceptable in my opinion and particulary as its showing all the same complaints.
Why is this Company still aloud to operate. I have submitted my letter of complaint to them and yet to hear but I urge everyone who has had this awful experience to take it further. I plan to put my letter to Watchdog and really let people know how bad they are. If I had read all of these reviews, I most certainly wouldnt have booked.
WE were supposed to fly to Canada (Hamilton) at 12.00pm and when we went to check in we were told the flight would be 9 hrs delayed - this extended until 12 hrs delay apparently due to torrential weather in Canada. We had to travel 5 hrs to get to the airport so had we known this before we wouldnt have had to have an overnight stay in Glasgow. I also have a 3 year old and having this kind of delay is stressful enough without then being told the plane would stop in Iceland to refuel!!!!
We had paid extra for legroom and complimentary entertainment, drinks etc. The legroom was appauling - Im under 5ft and I struggled with it. The drinks was one half a glass of either cheap orange or wine - plastic cheap cups! I asked for a blanket and pillow for my wee boy and they didnt have any. There was no duty free, no flight entertainment and the staff were - well they were there!
Its a disgrace that they get away with selling a product which they quite clearly do not have to offer. When we finally arrived in Hamilton at 3.00 in the morn (instead of being 3.00 pm) there was not one Globespan member there. We were left on our own and thankfully there were taxis around this tiny airport. However, this cost us £100 to get to our hotel which we then arrived at 5.00am instead of 5.00pm, losing a whole nights accommodation.
This was a once in a lifetime experience and I can ensure you that it will be the last. It shows that to get quality then you are best to stick with reputable companies and leave the cowboys alone!!!

Having read the many comments about Globespans longhaul flights from Manchester/Glasgow/Liverpool/Knock to Hamilton and JFK, whilst in no way am I attempting to condone the appalling lack of customer service shown by the company, I feel that as a Cabin Crew member for Globespan it is only fair that we have the chance to voice our opinions. We all have many years experience as cabin crew for various airlines and despite what many people have said, the vast majority of us bend over backwards to deliver the best possible onboard service to our passengers. Of course we are only human and when you come into work day after day dealing with never ending delays, irate passengers that have been given no welfare in the terminal, the aircraft you are flying on looks tatty to say the least and 2 of the 4 toilets are not working for 188 passengers, not to mention missing meals, no pillows or blankets and only the absolute legal minimum amount of cabin crew on board to deliver Business Class(!),premium and economy class services you can see why sometimes the crew might seem slightly harassed. We have never received any support from the management of the company and the problems we report never get resolved. I'd just like our passengers to know that we do the best job we can we the complete lack of support and tools that globespan give us and we all take pride in our work. So next time you have a flight from hell, please spare a thought for the crew who are treated appalling and instead direct your complaints at the management of globespan who really couldn't care less sadly.

Just back from a Palma flight. Flight was supposed to leave 7:20pm local time, but on arrival at check-in advised of 6 hour delay. In the end up after zero announcements or updates flight got away nearly sevens hours late. We had our infant who is just about to turn two sleeping in a noisy, hot departure lounge. All they gave us was a voucher for 7 euro. Never never again, i will stick with Thomas Cook etc. If travelling with kids, stay clear of flyglobespan. I've now lost half my day and am pretty tired. This was my worst airline experience ever, everyone should vote with their wallets and avoid globespan!

Worst airline I have ever used. The plane from JFK to Liverpool smelled like a septic tank the whole flight. We dubbed the airline Jet Poo. We had no idea how right we were. Flight was 3 hours late leaving JFK, then we had a stop at a tiny airport in Ireland. This should have been just to let some passengers off and then fly on to Liverpool. Then we all had to get off in Ireland and identify our bags which is a fine security precaution but it seemed this was caused by a mistake by the crew. Finally we arrived at Liverpool 4 hours later than scheduled.
The way home was worse. We left almost three hours late again, this time because the "one" plane they use for our route had technical problems(I am not surprised-old planes) and had to land in Toronto so they had to fly a plane over from Manchester, a small plane that then had to refuel in Bangor Maine on the way to New York. The staff on this flight were obviously upset and passed that along to customers. This plane was also not in good condition and we did not feel safe. We finally arrived again, about 4 hours late.
Staff seems unhappy, horrible food service, horrible planes, never again.

I had booked Globespan because it is a company that seems to offer a good range of flights to Scottish Airports. The price was good and the premium upgrade seemed like a no brainer. After booking I tried to prebook seats on the flight to find that all the extended legroom seats (promised with Premium) were taken. Then I got an email changing the flight time from a good morning time to a mid afternoon time - it all eats into the holiday. But I accepted this as an unfortunate event. Then today I get an email changing my flights again. The flights I was on (in and out bound ) have been cancelled. I have been reallocated onto flights two days later and inbound two days EARLIER. In short my ten day holiday has been reduced to 5 days.
The email gave a phone number to change the allocated changes or cancel, however this number is unobtainable. So is two of the other numbers on their Website. The other numbers are permanently engaged. I have spent all day trying to contact them. Have they gone bust or something?

I begin by stating that you should not take my word but to look it up. Check Google News under Ireland and Flyglobespan. There are 17 articles as of today.
My party was scheduled to depart JFK on 28 June. Today, 3 July, I remain in a NY City hotel, apparently at my own expense.
I have not heard from the airline since Sunday, 1 July, when a message at my hotel from Flyglobespan instructed me to go to JFK at 4pm for a refund. I did so, only to find some 300+ would-be passengers from my flight and the following scheduled flight that was also cancelled. We all stood in line at the Globespan ticket counter like tired livestock, not knowing what to expect, but holding the line regardless. In the hour and one half that I remained there, the Globespan ticket counter was vacant. Finally, I returned to my hotel, round-trip cab fare: $120
I have phoned, emailed and faxed Globespan several times since Friday 29 June.... not one response.
If you check out the news articles, I assure you that I saw nothing that was stated by the ill-fated passengers that was untrue. In fact, if anything, the account was understated. I was there.
I hope this airline, its diabolical executives and incompetent managers get their just reward: bankruptcy and abolishment.

Do NOT flyglobespan! Worst airline experience I've ever had -- or heard about! Was supposed to fly to JFK from Liverpool on Friday, June 29. Flight had technical problem and -- note this, potential passengers -- they have no back-up airplane.
That wasn't the worst of it, though. There was no communication with passengers. Customer service was non-existent!
While we were put up overnight at the airport on Friday, we were unceremoniously dumped the next morning at the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at with no contact from any airline personnel. On Saturday, the next day's flight's passengers were dumped at the same hotel and basically told to hang out in the lobby. Overnight? Yes! They eventually cancelled the flight completely on Sunday, but there was no one at the Liverpool airport from the airline and none of my fellow travellers was able to contact anyone at their reservations numbers. Had they told us of the potential problem when we checked in on Friday, most of us could have found other arrangements home without breaking the bank.
I was doggedly determined to reach a human after we heard the flight was cancelled and that we had to rebook our seats. When I finally did -- after hundreds of dollars of hotel and cell phone bills -- I was told that the next available seat back to NY would not be "for several weeks." so, my $597 ticket ended up costing me about $2500 and several days of time and work! I had to book a last minute tickets on another carrier and there were costs for transportation to Manchester...flight to the connecting city...flight back to the US....three additional days of parking, child care and kennel costs...taxis, hotels, phone calls and meals! That doesn't include all the grief, pain and suffering! If this is the last airline on the planet, take a boat!

What can I say? A day and a half late leaving Liverpool. Even then was on a 737 so had to stop in Ireland and Iceland for fuel, no in-flight entertainment... didn't get the food ordered online or the seats prebooked!
The airline didn't fly for 6 days when we were due to return, due to 'weather damage to the plane' though the reason used was the terrorism in Scotland! So were 4 DAYS LATE RETURNING HOME! No FlyGlobespan rep was at the airport so had to wander around the airport looking for someone to give advice as was not even 'cancelled' on the departure board... just didn't exist!
Again, didn't get pre booked seats (not that you care at that point!), or meals booked!

Globescam Update: (see earlier comments)
On 3 July I posted comments regarding JFK/LPL Flight Y2 202, with a scheduled departure on the evening of 28 June.
I stated that I had attempted to contact Globescam by telephone, email and in person at the JFK ticket counter. The flight apparently did depart -- six days later -- but I had returned home to Colorado by that time.
I am obligated to report that despite daily attempts via email, as of today, 12 July, I have still not received communication of any sort from this scandalously sorry excuse for an airline.
Beware fellow traveler... ANY airline other than Globescam is a safer bet.

Flight delayed 13 hours - they knew this for 24 hours beforehand but when we phoned to check they told us it was on time!! After 10 hours of waiting in a function suite in a hotel in Liverpool a fax was sent for the hotel manager to tell us the flight was cancelled. It was 1.30am but Globespan did not provide overnight accommodation (we were traveling with children) or transport back to the airport (we were 200 miles from home and our car was at the airport). The Adelphi Hotel staff were superb and helped us loads. It took us 4 hours the next day to get our bags back - no Globespan staff at airport. Ended up booking with another carrier from Manchester - missing 2 days of our holiday. Still waiting for our money back!!!

Flew from Alicante supposedly to Glasgow on day of terrorist incident at Glasgow airport. Rerouted to Edinburgh prior to departure and assured transport would be provided to convey passengers to Glasgow by captain of flight.
Arrived Edinburgh 22.00 (1 hour later than supposed to arrive at Glasgow, so not too bad) Baggage not delivered to carousel until after midnight. No transport provided. 2 FlyGlobespan staff getting plenty hassle fro passengers as we had been assured by captain transport would be provided. £126 forked out for taxi to get from Edinburgh airport to Glasgow. No compensation as airline used force majeure as an excuse. Terms and conditions, however, state they will take you to your destination and not leave you stranded nearly 50 miles away at a completely different airport.

Worst airline ever. No plane - turned up 6 hours late, trip totally ruined. You cannot operate long haul the same as a domestic low cost airline it just doesn't work. No staff at the airport, old planes and always late and even the airport don't really want them, they openly admit that they are the worst ever airline.
Like most things in life you get what you pay for and in the case of Globespan it is very little sometimes nothing at all.

I'm sitting in Vancouver airport, the plane delayed by 2.5 hours. It is the only plane delayed. On the way out from Manchester it was 6 hours delayed. There were no apologies or explanations from ground staff or crew. I spoke to people who have had their flights cancelled and have been put out of pocket with laughable compensation. I have been told that all their flights are late all the time at check in. By FAR the worst airline around. Avoid.

Flight from Calgary to Glasgow on May 3 had times changed twice prior to departure date. Flight was finally scheduled to leave at 22:50, but failed to arrive in Calgary and was delayed until 04:30 on May 4. There was no Globespan representative that dealt with us at anytime...Air Canada was contracted to do the baggage handling.
We were each given $10 food vouchers to spend in the airport while waiting, but after getting a meal, we were informed the vouchers were not accepted.
We were forced to sleep in the departure lounge with our two small boys. It was 16 hours from check in time until noon the next day (May 4) before we were finally told to go down and retrieve our checked in baggage, then bused to a hotel. Things improved for a few hours thanks to the efforts and understanding of the hotel staff.
We finally were taken back to check in all over again and our flight left over 27 hours late. The plane was a mess (hadn't been cleaned). The row and seat numbers on our four boarding passes did not exist and the cabin crew snapped at us to sit anywhere. Fortunately, some passengers made it possible for us to sit together with our children.
The cabin crew were extremely rude and the in-flight meal served to us could be compared to dog food.
Some of our long-planned trip plans fell through and Globespan issued a very poorly written apology, with completely false statements about their efforts to communicate with passengers. There was no communication. It was suggested that any compensation for expenses be sought through travel insurance. Globespan can expect to have a huge battle on their hands with this one. They will be lucky to be operating out of Canada next year once the dust settles on this one.
The only good thing I have to say is that the flight back was reasonably on time and the aircraft was fairly clean and modern, unlike the piece of junk we departed on.

We flew from Manchester to Vancouver 1 hour late and no reason was given at all. In business class (that's the first and only laugh). On may 23rd 07. There was no welcome drink, in fact we had been seated over 1 hour before they stopped fussing and messing enough for us to catch sight of one of the Italian crew,(who all their English was very limited)to ask them for a drink, the stewardess went behind the curtain 1 row in front of me, and produced my drink already poured, no miniature bottle or a choice of ice or lemon?? The meal was disgusting my salmon dry and tasteless, my husbands beef uuurrrgghhh. We were handed a salad bowl 1.5 hours after take off, 30 mins later came soup, literally thrown at you then 20 mins later the dinner. And then a sweet pudding that all took 2.5 hours from taking off.
We were handed small flat DVD players that you had to juggle as you sat, as the plane was that old there was no TV. Wall mounted. There were at least 5 members of the crew behind the curtain in front of me, and 1 or 2 of them asleep next to the toilet in an area covered by another curtain. But there were only 12 of us in business. In the 10 hours it took to fly to Vancouver the only thing the pilot said was "fasten your seat belts” they upgraded an elderly couple to 2 empty seats behind us, because they paid for premium seats (£150.00)extra but had no leg room at all. when they brought them, they made them sit with their meals in a box as that's what they got in premier seats, offered them a salad and then took it from them as they realised they were not originally in business.
We were treated like the lowest of the low and when you consider that there was 2 members of globespan travelling in the business seats also.(just to observe, the guy told us) as the flights were sublet out to an Italian crew. he would not listen to anything we said just told us that he had a lot of notes to write down once he got to his hotel, as for the female with him, she observed nothing as she slept most of the way.
So if you would like a 10 hour flight in an old old plane be ignored by all the staff on it, and its usual late take off..2.5 hours late also on the return journey which believe it or not was worse than going out to Vancouver + when we all arrived at Manchester our bags did not go on the carousel for another 2.5 hours. They dumped them off the plane and no-one would handle them. Be my guest at a cost of almost £1250 for 2..i know i could do better and so could you .
Manchester evening news were called to come and view the situation and take statements as people were very very angry.
I wrote to globespan on my return early the following morning, and asked customer services to ring me to discuss the situation and why i paid an extra £150.00 for premier seats which (advert reads generous allowance on seat pitch and 30 kg of luggage). When for 10 hours we were folded in our seats as they had moved the seats back in our section so the front seats (6a-b) had tons of room and (7a-b) had none at all. I know this sounds stupid but i am 5'2" and the pockets on the seats were so badly damaged that it hung on my knee the whole way home..............see return journey

I flew to Palma with Flyglobespan. We booked our hotel independently and chose this airline because of the flight times. On the whole the flight was ok both there and back. The only glitch was at Palma airport where the check in desks were not well indicated they had about eight desks shown one was being used by another airline and in the end they only opened three, much to the annoyance of the passengers forming a queue at the other desks.

FlyGlobespan - Don't. We booked a 4 day trip to New York way back in January when Globespan announced that they were flying daily from Liverpool direct. As soon as the final payment was made they announced that they would now be stopping off at Knock in Western Ireland. The flight out was reasonably good arrived on time, meals on board OK.
On our return flight we arrived at JFK at 5 pm for an 8pmflight home. On check in we were told there was a long delay - no real explanation was given. We were told to check again at 2am in the morning. We were given food vouchers for $8 which doesn't buy much at airport prices. The seating around the airport was really uncomfortable. We finally took off at around 3.30am. We were told by the captain that a plane had broken down in Malaga so they used the New York plane to bring back a load of Scottish people who were stranded. Why couldn't they use another plane?
The cabin crew were really good. They didn't bother us too much as we were all very tired. We had a complimentary meal and free tea/coffee. It wasn't much but it was better than nothing.
I won't be flying with Globespan anymore. If you look on the TV for flight arrivals they have never been on time. They have announced recently that they are cutting their flights down to 4 or 5 a week and then later on in the year there will be a weekly service only as they haven't got the passengers.

Vancouver to Glasgow 3rd May, 07. I have absolutely no confidence in this unprofessional airline. The flight was due to leave at 1940 from Vancouver they had us sit at the gate till 230 am then told us it was cancelled, made us collect our bags, by 415am the rep showed up to tell us the crew needed a 14 hour rest period & they would fly out at either 6am or 8pm. We were given a $10 (£4) voucher then at 530 checked in again through security again and then we did get on a plane, the plane was good everything seemed fine.
by 730 am we were speeding up down the runway when we were called back to the gate, where we sat for 2 hours before they announced the "good news" that we were going to a hotel.... and the flight would commence at 830 pm - since the crew needed a 14 hour rest period! It was obvious when they made the announcement that this would not be possible without a new crew. I was furious, I demanded a refund and booked with Zoom who flew out at 6pm that evening, leaving on time & arriving on time, same with the return journey.
When I flew out that night Globespan was still on the departures board & had been delayed till 1030 pm, who knows if it ever took off? I missed 3 days of my trip due to the lack of communication with the airline, a passenger could work out the crew shifts easier than them, someone somewhere dropped the ball and I will never fly with them again - think before you book the low prices reflect a flight that might never take off!

Flight almost 5 hours late leaving Barcelona. Excuse was black box found unserviceable and a spare had to be flown from London. But perhaps this was a cover up, flights on previous days had long delays after an incident in Edinburgh in which a plane was involved, details of which are hard to come by. We were told at Barcelona some while after scheduled take off late that the delay would be 3 hours, even though at that time the plane was still at Edinburgh. Compensation for 5 hour delay was a 5euro voucher and a free cup of tea on board! Cabin staff were friendly but Globespan needs to be more open with their customers.

Booked Premium Economy and was disappointed with little apparent value for money. Scheduled for 11:30AM departure finally left at 8:15PM that evening. Every scrap of information about estimated time of departure had to be wrestled from airline staff. Given £6 voucher for food to alleviate our discomfort! Checked their website prior to leaving house and it was showing no delays. Complimentary drinks on the flight were few and far between as the staff had too many other things to do. Exited Sanford airport at 1:30AM and left to find our own local accommodation.
As it appears only 1 plane flies the route, any problems have a huge knock-on effect.
Subsequent discussions with other people have shown my experience was not unusual.
The savings had my wife and I flown "back of the plane" would have been sizeable.

I agree with most of the other reviews. The Airline is in a period of to rapid expansion at the moment. They have also leased their bigger planes to Air India meaning the smaller planes need to refuel on long haul flights. I traveled to Orlando - 9 hour delay, small dirty plane with broken seats/lights/headsets. You might be lucky but I will never fly with them again.

It's a pity there isn't a HA HA comment in the recommend to a friend!
Abandoned in Florida for 32 hours with no contact from Globespan.
We are out of pocket for hotel bills, food, drink etc.
They just left us in a foreign country and still to this day they will not return any correspondence to us.
Do not travel with them unless they are the last airline on earth and even then don't expect them to turn up on time!!!!

Thinking of a golfing holiday in the sun during our wet/cold winter? Well think twice about using flyglobespan or alternatively don't take your own clubs.
Despite charging £30 for carriage of the clubs they are under no obligation to actually put them on the flight with you.
On our flight on Sunday 18/3/07, 27 sets of clubs were left behind in Glasgow and it eventually took them 3 days to deliver them to Faro.
On the return flight on 25/3/07 not one set of golf clubs and numerous pieces of luggage were left in Faro. Of our party of 8 only two of us received our cases.
Cabin staff on the plane admitted that it is company policy to announce on the flight that luggage etc was not being carried but alas that announcement never came. They were reluctant to even admit prior to landing in Glasgow that the clubs etc had not been carried. They did admit that this had also happened on previous flights to Faro, partly caused in their words, by the planes being too small for the purpose.
So please be warned about this and I will certainly be telling any golfers planning to use FlyGlobespan to think twice

Travelled out on the 10.15 departure from LJL, left on time, however, this flight picks up at Stanstead where we lost 30mins awaiting a cabin crew member. Many families boarded with numerous young children, and as this flight does not have any form of entertainment,'why I don't know', parents struggled to keep their offspring entertained. A six hour journey, with four hours being kicked in the back by a youngster, is not much fun.
The cabin crew worked hard throughout the flight, but the choice of food was very limited.
When flying for short distances on low cost airlines, entertainment is not really essential, but this flight lasts six hours and boredom easily sets in. Aircraft on this route should be equipped to enable films to be shown.
Overall, the flight was good, except for the items mentioned, but let's not forget that flights from Manchester are direct and take four and a half hours. I feel sure that if Globespan reviews this issue, many more people will choose to use it.

This airline should be avoided at all costs if you are considering a golf or other sport type holiday that involves the carriage of sporting equipment. We paid £30 each to the airline to carry our clubs but they did not arrive on time. A total of 27 sets were missing from the flight. It took 3 days to deliver our 5 missing sets. I have also heard of similar problems in regards to the carrying of cycles. To make matters worse the airline left behind 75 sets of clubs and other luggage at Faro on the return leg, it took 4 days to get my clubs and bag. BA came to the rescue on the outward and inward journeys. So think about it when you book your holiday, cheap and cheerful or a reputable airline with the support and back up to get your equipment to you within a reasonable timescale.

Globespan should be avoided at all costs if you are travelling with sports equipment, they take £30 to deliver your golf clubs to your destination(Faro)then they forget to put them on the plane? It cost me £120 for golf shoes, Balls, glove and hire of clubs while this award winning airline attempted to get my clubs to me. If that was not bad enough they managed to do the same on the return flight to Glasgow, I got my clubs back 2 days after I had arrived home. When I returned to my work I discovered a work mate had been given the same treatment two weeks earlier. This airline should be boycotted by every golfer in the UK.

The flight was with Icelandic Air painted as globespan.
My family were upgraded on the way out. I am 6ft 4 plenty of legroom on the way back. Exeter and Hamilton quick and convenient airports. Staff were very helpful.
I expected some inconvenience due to the comments and price but we only went to Canada as it was much cheaper than flying to Turkey and 20 minutes drive to Exeter rather than trekking to Gatwick. Like the other budgets it is a bus service and as it is not much more than a standard train fare to London pretty good value.
I may have been lucky but I was pleasantly surprised, after all it is not BOAC.
I suspect that they do not have enough planes and suffer from growing pains.

I used to fly with Globespan all the time - but I think this was my last flight with them. I was actually threatened by the check in agent at the boarding gate - probably because she was having a bad day. My Spanish partner was refused boarding and no one at the airline volunteered to help. His dni was out of date (just) - which I know is his fault - but working in the industry - I know that there are ways around this. The airport police stated the same to him when we went to see what could be done about getting paperwork ASAP. No assistance from the airline, they preferred to take money for a new flight - no changes at all!!! 250 euros to rebook - and I was charged the full whack for excess baggage as I was only one passenger traveling - 12 kilos - and she charged me for the lot - no goodwill free kilos. (Which I have seen most airlines do on many occasions - including Globespan). I usually travel with no luggage or 10 kilos tops - but as I was moving home for a few months to study - the suitcase wasn't exactly full of vodka - just books and clothes.
And just to take the p*** even more - your hand luggage is part of the 20 kilo allowance. No more 5 kilo hand baggage (not that you can carry much nowadays because of security) and 20 hold luggage.
Just to annoy me further - I arrive at my seat and find that my "window" is actually a wall! Great!! (They can see this when they allocate you onscreen).
Don't travel with Globespan from Alicante. Their ground handlers are rubbish.

Flew on 767-300 G-CEFG, a nice enough plane, but badly in need of a make over.
We had a 7 hour delay due to a problem with the cargo door, not really the airlines fault however more information could have been given and the 4 pound meal voucher is an insult.
Onboard the flight attendants were friendly, meal was fantastic, IFE was poor, audio not working properly, but I must say the flight package was a fantastic bargain.
Well done GSM on showing that other companies are just greedy.

Again flew on G-CEFG 767-300 not a bad plane just needs a little refit.
Cabin crew were fantastic, meal was wonderful and everything ran smoothly and on time.
The in flight experience is the only issue I have with the airline, however the service is above the likes of Monarch, Thomsonfly etc.
