Date of Travel: Sep 2007 Flying from: London Gatwick Airport Flying to: Cleveland Hopkins Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Fiona Martin Comments: We travelled continental because it went where we wanted to at the time we wanted and at a reasonable price. Flights were great, service good food good for airplane grub. The only hold ups were at the end of the flights trying to land at the respective airports, we were circling in a holding pattern for half an hour.
Date of Travel: Mar 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Las Vegas McCarran International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Simon Firth Comments: I have used continental for over ten years, and have always found them to be very professional, if my plane is late arriving. very rare or interconnecting flights have missed they have always booked me on the other flight, I find the staff very nice, but again I treat them with respect and courtesy and what you reap you get back, I also find there main meals on the international leg very good value, the internal snacks are awful , but there's always plenty of coffee or soft drinks and water, and I did complain last year when I was rebooked for an internal flight, which took me to another airport to connect, I found that the customer care staff phoned me at home in the uk and sorted it out for me, other us, firms I have flown with like delta, I wouldn't give them my business , now they did treat you badly

Good work.
Date of Travel: Jan 2007 Flying from: Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport Flying to: John F. Kennedy International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Riordan Rocha Comments: I have lost a connection with Continental because I was 1 1/2 minutes late and the doors were closed. So, despite of my frustration I had no other option but accept taking a later flight.
Once in the later flight, the Pilot announced that the flight would leave about 10 minutes late since they were waiting for other passengers. That's when I complaint, because they didn't wait 1 1/2 minutes for me ??? When I asked to talk to a supervisor, he came with such arrogance and to my questions he said that was a Continental decision, and they do that whenever they feel necessary. Well I didn't accept the answer and asked to talk to the pilot. After 2 minutes he came back informing that the Pilot asked for me to leave the aircraft since he didn't want anybody angry in his flight. The pilot didn't even talk to me, or came to see me to discuss my point.
So, in the end I was put out of the aircraft, humiliated, and didn't have a single chance to do anything about it.
The only option Continental gave me was to contact their customer service department, which would certainly not help for that particular problem.
So, here I am, sleeping in the airport, with no support whatsoever from Continental, and nor even the name of the pilot they gave me, because they are not allowed.
That's the type of company that Continental is. When you really have a question that hurt their interests, their rudeness start to flourish, and customer care doesn't really exist.

We came back with extra luggage but were told its fine you have been shopping with no excess charge. One tip is to tip the cabin steward and they help you even more.
Date of Travel: Jan 2007 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Brian Hawe Comments: This airline is typical of the US carriers.
Staff are on the verge of being impolite, but somehow always manage to stay the right side of the line whilst making it clear they don't want to be there and you the customer are a pain in the arse. I read a comment from another person on here that the way to get service is to tip them - it's the first time I've heard of anyone tipping airline staff!
The food is typical for scheduled airlines these days, no better or worse than any other.
The aircraft they are using ex Manchester , and all over the UK, are simply not up to the job. We don't fly to Tenerife in Boeing 757's often these days, so why should we have to fly transatlantic and transcontinental in them? They have not enough seat width or legroom for such a long flight, and the entertainment is the take it or leave it variety shown on overhead screens along the underside of the luggage racks. Our return seating meant we could not see any screen. It's all very well them flying twice a day from Manchester to Newark, but it would be far better to use a bigger aircraft and just fly the once - like they used to do, when the service et al was much better.
They are no longer my airline of choice for travel to the USA, but the airline of last resort!
Date of Travel: Nov 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Cleveland Hopkins Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Neil McGregor Comments: I have traveled all over the world and this is the worst airline that I have ever traveled on.
I flew from Manchester and the plane developed a fault shortly after take off (poor maintenance I would guess). We emergency landed in Dublin and were not allowed off the plane. We spent an hour on the tarmac and they supposedly fixed the fault. On route to New York, half way over the Atlantic the fault reoccurred. We were told grudgingly by the very unhelpful staff that both the primary and secondary electricity generators had failed. Lights and the entertainment system in the cabin went out. One of the air stewardesses started crying at this point. Very professional.... not. After 2 very tense hours we emergency landed in Canada and were let off the plane for 2 hours. There was no communication and we had no currency and mobile phones did not work, therefore no way to contact loved ones. We were then put back onto the plane, a number of passengers did not want to fly in the faulty plane again.
In the end, we landed 7 hours late. The ground staff were then particularly unpleasant. I have complained to Contential but still have not heard from the company several weeks later. I felt unsafe, not valued as a customer and distressed after dealing with this company.
