Date of Travel: Aug 2006 Flying from: London Heathrow Airport Flying to: St. Lucia Hewanorra Airport Class: Charter/Package Recommended: No Submitted By: Vanessa Shiels Comments: We had booked direct flights, however due to flight departure delays, we were subjected to stop-over’s in Trinidad on both outbound and inbound journeys. BWIA do not provide information, travellers are delayed for hours without adequate explanation. We were eventually informed on the final leg of our outbound journey (having been delayed for 3 hours at Heathrow and 2.5 hours at Trinidad) that there is only 1 plane used for the Heathrow, St Lucia, Trinidad route. During our journey it became apparent that there is no contingency when there is a problem with the plane.
The onboard entertainment is extremely limited, only 2 films were shown during 8 hour flights and only some of the overhead monitors were working. No drinks were offered until food had been served (90 - 120 mins into flight), food quality is poor and beer, wine and spirits must be purchased.
Our family will NEVER fly BWIA again.
Date of Travel: Dec 2005 Flying from: St. Lucia Hewanorra Airport Flying to: Port Of Spain Piarco Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Keitje Comments: My mom and I travelled with this airline to Trinidad. Outbound flight was cancelled with no explanation. We were then sent to St.Lucia’s second airport for a flight on a smaller Caribbean airline Caribbean Star. Caribbean Star service was great.
Return flight with BWIA was on time and service was wonderful although no food is served on the 40minute flight and entertainment is limited BWIA proved to have potential as a great airline.
