Date of Travel: Oct 2007 Flying from: London Heathrow Airport Flying to: John F. Kennedy International Airport Class: Business Recommended: Yes Submitted By: JC Comments: Flew AA 107 LHR to JFK. Plane was 5 hours late. It was the "New" business class which is awesome and very comfortable !! The FA's were cool, not intrusive but not too present in the cabin which meant ringing for drinks. Food was ok Chicken wasn't so good and gave me bad gas (sorry 9B). But otherwise an excellent flight. Felt bad for the economy passengers. They ate and didn't see anyone as the crew came into the business cabin to chat !!
AA needs to keep a tight grip on their flight attendants, they are getting worse. The MALE attendant whom was attractive never smiled. Thankfully we weren't on his side !!
Date of Travel: Jun 2007 Flying from: Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport Flying to: Jacksonville International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Phil Comments: Our departure from Beef Island was delayed due to no inbound equipment. When our equipment arrived it was just behind the next scheduled flight. The next scheduled was loaded first and given the only AC cart, so we sat in our ATR72 in 90f sweating with no AC.
Upon arriving in San Juan we discovered they had loaded our bags on a later flight, not the flight we were on. About 40 of us waited in Customs for an hour until our bags arrived. Rebooked to Miami 3 hours later.
In Miami volunteers were being solicited to give up their seats as the aircraft was going to be over weight. Nobody came forward and the compensation was not increased. We all end up getting on the ATR72, then get to JAX to find they had INTENTIONALLY left our bags in Miami to meet the weight restrictions. An American employee confirmed this. So twice in one day American Airlines/American Eagle (It said American on the ticket and American on the credit card bill, so it's American) INTENTIONALLY separated me from my bags.
This is my 4th trip in 12 months on American. The flights/service got progressively worse each time. I'm done. There are other choices, even in the Caribbean, you just have to look. I'm retired with the means to travel. American will not see anymore of my money. There are too many other choices available to put up with this kind of service.
Date of Travel: Apr 2007 Flying from: Miami International Airport Flying to: Reno/Tahoe International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Mike Comments: American totally messed up our flight. We showed up at the airport at 6:00 am and were told that our flight had been cancelled, when actually it was delayed. So, they re-booked us on other flights involving a change from AA to US Airways. Somehow, although I got a receipt and boarding pass for the first leg of the rebooked flight, I did not have a reservation on the remaining two, and my wife's reservations didn't matter because they had oversold the flight anyway. So, we got stuck. Some of their agents were quite unhelpful and rude, as were some from US Airways. We're still waiting to get home. Buyer beware. My wife and I will never fly with them again, unless there truly is no other choice. What a poorly run company!
Date of Travel: Feb 2007 Flying from: London Heathrow Airport Flying to: John F. Kennedy International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Max Perrin Comments: We flew from Heathrow to JFK on the AA 107, very pleasant and we were able to get sleep. Flight landed early and luggage was received promptly.
On the date of our return flight, New York experienced light snow which caused many flight to be cancelled, we were hurried through and told our flight was going ahead as scheduled. We all boarded the aircraft as quickly as possible and we told to sit with our seatbelts fastened ready to go - 1.5 hrs later we were told that we all had to get off the aircraft as the flight had been cancelled and no form of ANYTHING was to be offered in help. We then spent the next 5 days hanging around on standby tickets waiting to leave. We were given no food, drink, hotels and certainly not an explanation as to why we were still waiting. American Airlines stranded us with absolutely no help. To top it all we booked on to British Airways Flights, went to check in to find out that American airlines had decided that they weren't having British airways steeling their business and had cancelled our tickets. We finally got out 5 days after we were supposed to. To our horror when we boarded the aircraft as standby passengers and the door were shut, there were 15 EMPTY on bored. We knew passengers who were still waiting in the terminal for a flight back to England but were left stranded whist there was space on bored?!?! ? How many other aircrafts had left with this amount of free seating?
NEVER FLY AMERICAN AIRLINES!!!!!!!
Date of Travel: Dec 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Boston Logan International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Fran Shield Comments: Paid £248 for flight to New York via Boston. Outbound flight was great, loads of empty seats. Flight attendants encouraged us to take up rows of three and lie down. Seat pitch was good on plane 747-300 anyhow. Food was fine, FA's brought round snack boxes if requested. Plenty of soft drinks. Alcoholic drinks $5 each which was good.
Return flight delayed by 1 hour. Red eye flight so dozed through most of it.
Would definitely use again, much better than I expected after reading some reviews.
Date of Travel: Dec 2006 Flying from: Miami International Airport Flying to: Juan Santamaria International Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Not Specified Comments: I am a frequent flyer with AA (Executive Platinum).
Both flights (MIA-San Jose-Mia) were bad, the aircraft (A300) was very dirty, broken seats, sound system did not work, in both flights one of the lavatories did not work.
I am use to flight the BOS-LHR route, very different experience.
AA needs to improve the service in this route, I have used Continental before and it was much better.
Date of Travel: Sep 2006 Flying from: London Gatwick Airport Flying to: Dallas Fort Worth Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Terry harding Comments: Outward travel was on a 767-300 - Good window seat and aisle seat for wife. Good security measures before boarding, meals fine although the last one (pizza snack could have been served about 45 minutes earlier.
Return journey on 777-200, full aircraft, good meal, plenty of choice regarding movies etc, flight attendants discreet due to overnight flight which arrived on time.
