Date of Travel: Sep 2007 Flying from: San Francisco International Airport Flying to: Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Samarati Comments: My 3rd & last Air France flight. I sincerely recommend that if you are planning to fly to Paris, take another airline company.
Fast details:
*Fly to Paris. Leave late, arrive late.
*Arrival: After 3.5 hours waiting for luggage to come up the belt, it does not appear. 4 other people on the flight also do not get their luggage.
*Luggage is lost for 4 days! I call 2X per day. "Your bags are not here, do not call again, we will call you" - Says Air France.
*Day 4 - I take train back to airport, meet Air France baggage manager. My luggage has been in a giant pile holding area for 3 days, I get my luggage. No apology, no vouchers.
* 21 days later - Return trip to SFO: Get on line @ 8:45 am for 10:40 flight. Snake thru line. Get to counter Your flight is closed, we can not get you on the jet" - They say. "WHAT?"
* I argue with operations director for 4 hours to get me on a flight that day. I am reasonable, they are not. They ask for 3,305 euros to put me on a plane to Atlanta Georgia! I argue for 3 more hours, I fly to Seattle for an additional 730 euros over what I already paid for my original ticket to SFO.
Moral of story. Never fly Air France again, tell everyone to avoid Air France. In the future, take British Airways to London, take train to Paris.
Sincere wish: Air France goes broke and disappears.

Date of Travel: Mar 2007 Flying from: Boston Logan International Airport Flying to: Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Alan Murtagh Comments: Flight 332 delayed by weather. After 6-hour wait at Logan Airport, we collected our luggage returned home and came back next day.
Instead of checking in with 400 other passengers for the rescheduled flight, we found 800 people including the passengers from the regularly scheduled flight (which was pushed back 2 hours to allow for the original fight to go) all facing 5 ticket agents. Air France staff should have separated the passenger check-ins from each flight to speed up the process. Flight left after a 3-hour delay.
Because of this delay our arrival at CDG in Paris was just late enough to miss our connection to Marseille. Instead of being able to get on the next flight (about 2 hours) later we were forced to wait for 7 hours at CDG for a flight.
The return from Marseille and at CDG, featured several agents not seeming to understand what an E-ticket was, which subjected us to embarrassing delays while they printed a boarding pass. The flight from CDG to Boston was also delayed for an hour.
The seats on the 747 from Boston to Paris seemed to be worn out and felt thin, like sitting on thinly cushioned plywood, various reading lights were out, the toilet bowl was stained and the headset connections were poor.
The food was very good and the service, although not friendly, was efficient.
Our 16 hours of flight times had over 22 hours of delays.
Without a doubt, one of the worst Airlines and most incompetent group of employees, that I have ever experienced.

Date of Travel: Nov 2006 Flying from: Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport Flying to: Montreal Dorval Airport Class: Business Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Dennis Pettersson Comments: The flight itself was a little late, but the service and comfort made up for that. Especially the quality of the meals served in the fabulous Nouvelle LŽespace Affaires business class was out of this world. If you want to travel in style and elegance, nothing beats Air France. Vive la France!

Date of Travel: Aug 2006 Flying from: Manchester Airport Flying to: Washington Dulles Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Helen Comments: As a party of 10 we boarded our morning flight in Manchester on time and the plane pushed back from the stand on time, which would have given us an hour in Paris Charles De Gaul Airport (Avoid this place at ALL COST it's horrible) we then sat on the runway at Manchester for an hour with no information from the cabin crew or pilots.
When we finally arrived in Paris, after taxi-ing round the airport for 10 minutes, an Air France employee was waiting for the 20-30 people who were connecting with a Washington flight, we were kept waiting by her for over 20 minutes, to be told that we'd missed our flight and were being put on a 4.30pm flight, it wasn't even 10.30am at the time, we were then given a "Meal voucher" and told to make our way to the correct terminal for our flight. As we did this, back on a bus this time to do a trip of the airport all the screen we're saying that our flight was still boarding, it wasn't until we finally arrived at the departure terminal that the screens changed to flight closed.
If we'd been taken off the flight when it landed, or by the Air France rep who'd met us straight to the flight we wouldn't have missed it (I've been on delayed flights where people with connecting flights have been disembarked first and taken straight to their flight), it was only because we were messed around by Air France for half an hour that we were unable to make our flight, especially with the flights being booked as connecting all our baggage was loaded separately so it could be transferred without us collecting it then checking it in again.
When we tried to use the meal vouchers we were told they were only accepted in one of the five eating areas in the terminal, and then we only had a choice of 3 types of sandwich and drinks from a drink dispenser that wasn't working.
The terminal itself was more like a conservatory, must be pleasant to be able to watch flight coming and going for an hour or so, but when you're stuck there for over 6 hours in the middle of summer in the hot sun the smell of the open cheese stall starts to get a bit much!!!
After this we thought we'd try to get information about our flight as we'd noticed that the replacement tickets we'd been given had no seat numbers on them. Customer service at the terminal told us we'd have to speak to Air France, but other than people boarding passengers for flights we had no way of finding any of them, (you can't get back to the check-ins from the terminals) we finally managed to get a member of Air France staff after they'd boarded a 1.30pm flight to Washington and were told we'd have to wait until all the other passengers for our 4.30pm flight had checked-in before we could be given seat numbers as WE'D missed our flight, not they'd missed our connection.
When it finally came to boarding our party of 10 people was split across the entire flight, including splitting married couples. When we tried to complain and ASKED FOR COMPLAINT FORMS we were told that if we didn't stop creating a fuss we'd be stopped from boarding the flight all together.
On the flight, the food was very average, the cabin crew were impolite and generally surely.
I WOULD ***NEVER*** USE AIR FRANCE AGAIN, EVEN IF IT MEANT DOUBLING THE COST OF A FLIGHT!!!!
Despite complaints on our return none of the party received any apology from Air France
Date of Travel: Apr 2006 Flying from: Toronto Hamilton International Airport Flying to: Dubai International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Ed Argo Comments: I flew from Toronto to Dubai via CDG and return. The first leg of the flight was on an Airbus 340. The seats were quite cramped. If the person in front of me put back their seat fully, I was not able to read a book correctly or watch the PTV in front of me. The flight attendants seemed none interested and spent a great deal of the time in the galley. The worst part of the trip was the washrooms. They were disgusting. I have never entered an aircraft toilet and gagged due to the smell. This just wasn't in one toilet but all. They were all filthy.
The flight from CDG to Dubai was on Boeing 777. It felt a little more comfortable, but barely. The flight attendants were a bit friendlier.
Both segments of the return flight were awful. Same issues (flight attendants with bad attitudes, disgusting washrooms).
The only redeeming point was the food. Tasty.
Date of Travel: Jan 2005 Flying from: Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport Flying to: Cape Town International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: Jessica H Comments: The reason for my poor rating is firstly my aircraft was completely tatty and old- for a short haul this is just about bearable but for a long flight- with stained carpet and a really old features this isn't really very reassuring.
I was unable to contact them to order a vegetarian meal but am used to airlines having reserves available to cater for demand- especially also on a long haul flight, I was rudely told the last vegetarian was gone and they made no effort at all to provide me with anything suitable.
On the flight home the Air France check in man seated me on the fist row- knowing full well this would be amongst all the mothers and their screaming new born babies- crying and screaming throughout the flight.
I was given a blanket as were all passengers as it was a night flight- only for the blanket to me soaking wet- which soaked right through to my clothes. I asked for a replacement to dry off and warm up- but no they had all gone. Despite me laterally sat there with wet clothes and shivering- they could not care less to at least try and find me something to warm me up or even apologise for me being given a wet blanket?! I sat there on a 10 hour flight- while the entire plane happily slept- shivering with goose pimples and willing the flight to hurry up and get me home like never before, I was counting down ever minute.
All the movies were in French so this too was useless to me. The seats had no individual screens only several placed high up so people had to strain to watch- it was making no effort to be accommodating to passengers.
It was a flight from hell in so many ways- the customer service was the worst I have ever experienced- just arrogant, unhelpful and very unfriendly. I didn't feel if was travelling in any comfort or style and would never fly Air France again.
