Date of Travel: Oct 2007 Flying from: London Stansted Airport Flying to: Belfast International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Ian Cuthill Comments: Excellent airline nearly always on time such a shame that they are finishing this route as I will have to use easy jet or Ryan air and they are not a patch on air Berlin. Allocated seats and free drink and snack and very efficient and friendly staff and very comfortable and modern aircraft and the moving map display on the newer aircraft put others to shame. I for one will be sad when this service finishes.
Date of Travel: Jun 2007 Flying from: Glasgow International Airport Flying to: London Stansted Airport Class: Economy Recommended: No Submitted By: R McDonald Comments: Stanstead / Glasgow return. Flight out OK on an old Fokker 100, except for cold coffee and bag of crisps for in flight service. Aircraft couldn't be started for return flight due out 18.00, no information on what was happening till 20.45. Were not given options as per Montreal agreement put up in motel for night. No effort to find an alternative carrier or explain rights. Only AB staff available was one junior who knew nothing. Got to motel 23.00, flown out 9.40 next day, no explanation or apology. Worst treatment experienced by me by any airline. Polite Email to customer service ignored.
Date of Travel: Feb 2007 Flying from: London Stansted Airport Flying to: Rome Fiumicino Airport Class: Low Cost Seat Recommended: Yes Submitted By: David Ottley Comments: For our first experience of this airline we took up their offer through Lidl Supermarkets of a return flight almost anywhere on their network for £38 return including all taxes. We had to change planes in Düsseldorf.
Check in was a breeze. While there were masses at the Ryanair and Easyjet desks, it was straight to the check-in clerk at Air Berlin. Seats were allocated there and then for both flights to Rome. Points were credited to our Top Bonus Accounts towards an easily achievable free flight - even the taxes are included for the free flight.
All four flights for the return journey departed exactly to schedule and each counted towards the free flight. A free non-alcoholic drink and a free snack of either a ham or a cheese roll were provided on each leg. The crew were friendly and attentive and indeed we were extremely impressed. We look forward to our trip with them next month to Helsinki.
Forget other so called low cost airlines. Air Berlin is low cost if, as usual, you book early enough, but there are no luggage charges, and the frills are provided. Because of the offer conditions, they did not even seek to charge Gordon Brown's recent increase in departure tax. How's that for a deal!
Date of Travel: Dec 2006 Flying from: London Stansted Airport Flying to: Dusseldorf International Airport Class: Economy Recommended: Yes Submitted By: Lee Chapman Comments: I love Air Berlin.
Free snack usually a sandwich or Roll. Free Drinks. Fly to and from Airports that they say. Provide airstairs in every German and Spanish Airport and occasionally in England. Value for money! Seat numbers provided! Quick check-in. Generous Allowances for luggage. Brilliant rewards programme.
I thoroughly recommend this airline, the only issue is that magazines and entertainment is in German, but you could learn a new language.
